Engineering Outside The Box
From designing satellites to robots to race cars, UChicago PME students and molecular engineering majors bring their knowledge to the more than 400 student-run Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) across campus.
Learn how you can get started, no matter what your interest is, and see other examples below of how students are getting involved beyond the classroom.
Get Involved
UChicago students may join and/or create Recognized Student Organizations. RSOs apply for funding from the Student Government Finance Committee, which allocates a portion of the Graduate Student Services Fee to student activities.
UChicago PME-affiliated RSOs include the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE), the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), the Society of Women Engineers (SWE), the Society of Molecular Engineering, and the Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers.
RSOs are a vital part of the campus community at the University of Chicago and host several campus traditions throughout the year. Each student organization works with an adviser from the Center for Leadership and Involvement to help achieve their goals and provide quality co-curricular experiences for their members.
