Rex Chan

Rex was born and raised in Hong Kong, and is currently an undergraduate pursuing a BS in Molecular Engineering at the University of Chicago. Prior to attending UChicago, Rex had experience doing research in materials science and microbiology with focuses on nanoparticle coatings and antibacterial resistance. Aside from being in the Tirrell Lab, Rex is also part of the LaBelle lab.

Rex is currently working with postdoctoral researcher Dr. Yu Tian on a project related to the biomedical applications of self-assembling nanoparticle and micelle systems, particularly in delivering therapeutics and peptides. This project aims to improve current cancer treatments by addressing targeting and intracellular delivery, two major hurdles in current treatments and research efforts.
