Katie received a BS in chemical engineering with a minor in biochemical engineering from Northeastern University in Spring 2008. Currently, she is working toward a PhD in bioengineering at the University of California, Berkeley in Professor Matthew Tirrell’s lab. Katie's work focuses on peptide based biomaterials for regenertive medicine and drug delivery. Her first project is to optimize a peptide amphiphile hydrogel for the application of peripheral nerve regeneration. Her other focus is to identify methods to encapsulate proteins inside complex coacervates for use as drug delivery vehicles. Her research interests broadly include biomaterials, drug delivery, regenerative medicine, and tissue engineering.
