Riggie was born and raised in Beijing, China. She attended Washington University in St. Louis and received her bachelor's degree in chemistry and computer science. As an undergraduate, she joined Prof. Jonathan Barnes's group to study stimuli-responsive polymers. Upon graduation, she came to University of Chicago PME in 2023 for graduate study and is currently co-advised by Prof. Stuart Rowan and Prof. Juan de Pablo
