Forrest was born and raised just outside of Rockford, Illinois, where he was exposed to the sciences at a young age. He went on to receive his BA in chemistry with a minor in history from the College of Wooster in 2011. He attained his PhD in 2016 from the Department of Chemistry at Case Western Reserve University working for Professor Genevieve Sauvé. His research worked at the interface of chemistry, physics, and engineering by focusing on the synthesis and application of novel semiconductor materials for use in organic electronics. In July 2016 he joined Professor Rowan’s lab as it moved to the University of Chicago. His research is currently focused on the synthesis of new materials for stimuli responsive applications.
