Sam was born and raised in the suburbs of St. Louis, MO. After high school he joined the Marine Corps Reserve and attended St. Charles Community College. He followed onto the University of Missouri where he received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering. Here he studied membranes for Lithium Airy Batteries and took part in outreach at local community colleges. Sam has a strong interest in reaching out to community college students to introduce them to the research community and create channels for a smooth transition to higher education. Currently, Sam is a part of the Patel group at The University of Chicago.
