ARPA-H: Insights Into a New Federal Funding Agency

When:
Thursday, December 8, 2022 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Where:
Zoom
Description:

In March of 2022, President Biden signed into law a bill which funded a new agency, the Advanced Research Project Agency for Health (ARPA-H), which aims to more rapidly advance the pace of biomedical and health research. ARPA-H intends to support high-risk, high-reward research to accelerate bench-to-bedside breakthroughs in biomedical and health research. ARPA-H has been advertised as being closely modeled after DARPA, an existing defense-focused research agency promoting high-risk, high-reward research.

While we wait for more information about ARPA-H and the release of funding opportunities, please join us for a virtual informational session introducing what we know about ARPA-H thus far, as well as insight into how DARPA works so you can learn more about how the new agency will likely operate. Speakers include a DARPA program manager and two DARPA-funded UChicago faculty members who will discuss their experiences and answer your questions.
