Helou Xie received his BS in chemistry from Hengyang Normal University, China, and went on to receive his PhD in polymer chemistry and physics from Xiangtan University and Peking University, China. He later worked as a Lecturer and Associate Professor in the College of Chemistry at Xiangtan University, China.
Due to microphase separation and the packing of the liquid crystal mesogen, liquid crystalline block copolymers can undergo multiple “layers” of self-assembly and ordered structures, which lead to novel properties and applications in photophysical, electrochemical, and biological fields. Dr. Xie’s interest is the design, synthesis, and assembly of novel liquid crystalline block copolymers targeting structure and function for photovoltaic devices through swelling and composing the kind of block polymers with small molecules or ions.
