Description:

Laser-Manipulation of Quantum Defects in Diamond Nanostructures

Solid-state qubits, particularly point defects in diamond known as color centers, have found applications in scalable quantum communication and sensing due to their exceptionally long spin coherence times, optical addressability, and nanophotonic integration capabilities. However, key challenges persist in deterministic defect creation, scalable spin-photon interfaces, and spectral inhomogeneity mitigation.

In this talk, I will present our work on (1) developing and fabricating nanophotonics for thin-film diamond membrane to enhance readout and integration capabilities, (2) leveraging cavity resonances in bullseye devices to enhance the laser-writing of localized defects in diamond, and (3) establishing a novel, all-optical approach for tuning the emission of individual group IV color centers through laser-induced strain.

By combining nanofabrication, cavity-localized qubit creation, and strain engineering, my work establishes a pathway towards deterministic spin-photon interfaces and scalable quantum node architectures in diamond.
