PME Alumni Career Conversation: Dr. Johnny Alfaro-Perez

Join this month's PME Alumni Career Conversation Series with Johnny Alfaro-Perez, PhD alum '17 (materials theme, de Pablo group)! Johnny works at International Flavors and Fragrances as Formulations - Freeze Dry Team Leader and Senior Scientist. He leads a group of scientists and laboratory technicians, executes scale-up and continuous improvement projects to commercialize new probiotics products, as well as characterization and validation of downstream processes. He has a B.S. in chemical engineering as well as a bachelor of music in voice performance from the University of Costa Rica. Prior to his move to Chicago for his PhD, he was appointed lecturer and researcher in chemical engineering, where he was studying chemical modification of tropical hardwoods. Prior to his current position, he worked at DuPont as a Lyophilization Scientist. This virtual monthly series will feature informal interviews with alumni guests to learn about their career paths and current work experience, with time for audience Q&A.
