Meet the Speaker Series: Dr. Avery August

Please join us in for the first event for the 2024-2025 academic year in our Meet the Speaker Series - an interactive forum providing students campus-wide the opportunity to hear from underrepresented leaders in science about their formative experiences and the adversities they overcame. Events in the series are open to all and consist of a student-moderated chat, followed by catered food and drinks. 



This quarter's Meet the Speaker event will feature Dr. Avery August - Professor of Immunology and Deputy Provost at Cornell University and HHMI Professor. Dr. August is a first-generation Belizian-American immigrant who started his higher education at Los Angeles Community College and trained at Weill Cornell and Rockefeller before launching his career with stops at Johnson & Johnson and Penn State prior to his tenure at Cornell University. He is an acclaimed advocate of access to STEM for historically marginalized groups and investigative leader in lung inflammatory diseases.
