Guiliang Xu is currently a chemist in the Chemical Sciences and Engineering Division at Argonne National Laboratory and a CASE scientist at PME of University of Chicago. He received his Bachelor (2009) and PhD (2014) degree at Xiamen University. He has over 15-years of research experience in designing and synthesizing multifunctional materials for energy storage (lithium-ion batteries, sodium-ion batteries, lithium-sulfur batteries and solid-state batteries) and utilizing cutting-edge characterization techniques to elucidate in-depth mechanistic understanding of the relationship between structures and performance, and to provide guidance and approaches to design and synthesize better battery materials with higher energy density and improved safety.
