Scaling Up Quantum Algorithms with Quantum Error Detection and Correction

Scaling up commercial use cases on quantum hardware is believed to require quantum error correction. In this talk, Shaydulin will overview recent research progress in this area within the quantum computing team at JPMorganChase. First, he will present an example where quantum error detection is enabling a cryptographic quantum advantage which is impractical with physical qubits alone (arXiv:2602.04859). Second, he will present the first execution of quantum algorithm with only fault-tolerant components using the [[7,1,3]] Steane code (arXiv:2603.04584).

Ruslan Shaydulin is the Head of Quantum Computing at the Global Technology Applied Research center at JPMorganChase, where he leads a team working across the entire quantum computing stack, including theory, applications, and fault-tolerant execution on hardware. Prior to joining JPMorganChase, Ruslan was a Maria Goeppert Mayer fellow at Argonne National Laboratory.
