Dynamical Error Reshaping for Dual-rail Erasure Qubits

Erasure qubits, whose dominant errors can be detected and located, promise lower overheads for quantum error correction. Superconducting dual-rail qubits are a leading platform for this approach, but the ancillary transmons needed for erasure checks and two-qubit gates introduce substantial noise that erodes these benefits. In this talk, Dakis will show how Space Curve Quantum Control, a geometric framework for pulse design, can suppress transmon-induced noise, yielding experimentally friendly waveforms that reduce erasure-check errors and logical two-qubit gate infidelities by up to three. Beyond dual-rail architectures, I will also share my most recent work applying the same geometric framework to simultaneously suppress dephasing and leakage in transmons.

Filippos Dakis is a PhD student at Virginia Tech, advised by Prof. Ed Barnes and Prof. Sophia E. Economou. His research lies in quantum information science, with a focus on dynamically corrected gates and high-rate quantum error-correcting codes.
